The MNO is pleased to offer the Métis Babysitter's Club Program to help support and prepare youth who want to pursue a part-time babysitting job. The Métis Babysitters Club will provide career readiness, training, and cultural connections to participants.
Please note: The youth MUST complete portions of the application.
General Guidelines
Youth must be in Grades 7, 8, 9 or 10 as of September 2024.
The parent/guardian, or youth, must be an MNO citizen, eligible for direct benefits.
The family must reside in the province of Ontario.
Youth will be required to write a letter of interest which may be evaluated by ELCC programs and services staff
Youth must have parental consent to apply.
Program Overview
Youth will enroll in a multi-part training program that will cover the following:
Babysitters course
Introduction to First Aid & CPR
Resume writing and how to promote their services safely.
How to use Canva to create posters and other promotional resources.
Mental health and crisis management.
Cultural games and activities they can play with the children.
Review the MNO Code of Conduct to Protect Children and other internal policies.
Once a participant completes all course requirements, they will receive a certificate of completion from ELCC.
Youth and parents/guardians will be contacted by the end of November about the outcome of the application. In the event that there are more participants than places available, a waitlist will be established. The course is expected to run November 2024 - January 2025. All course components must be completed by January 31, 2025. With the exception of virtual information and check-ins, the majority of the course is self-directed.
