Description

The Métis Nation of Ontario is excited to be hosting the Infinite Reach March Break Camp on March 10th - 14th, 2024, at the Canadian Ecology Centre, in Mattawa, ON.

This 5-day camp is intended to inspire students to start planning for their future and to provide them with a deeper understanding of their Métis history and culture. Students will learn about the benefits of post-secondary education and develop valuable life skills along the way. Participants will enjoy cultural workshops throughout their stay and have the opportunity to connect with other Métis students from across Ontario.

The camp will immerse youth in their history, culture and way of life through engaging in activities that will allow them to practice and share the traditional skills and knowledge they acquire when they return to their home communities. The camp allows youth to interact with Senators, Métis knowledge holders, PCMNO members, MNO staff, and facilitators in events/activities that will span the duration of the camp. In order to be eligible to participate, all forms must be completed. The costs of travel, accommodations, and meals will be covered

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Preference given to MNO citizens or children of citizens 
  • Enrolled and attending high school within the province of Ontario
  • In grades 10, 11, 12 (age 15-18)
  • Provide a letter of support from a teacher/guidance counsellor or Métis community council member and a letter of motivation. 

NOTE: AT THIS TIME PROOF OF VACCINATION IS NOT REQUIRED, IF YOU ARE NOT VACCINATED FILL OUT THE SECTION REGARDING BOOSTER DATES WITH A DATE IN 2024 TO INDICATE THAT INFORMATION. THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS OUR POLICIES ADAPT TO REFLECT THE STATUS OF THE COVID PANDEMIC.

Considerations

1. It is strongly recommended to complete the application using a computer rather than a mobile device. 

2. Applicants will receive a confirmation email upon submitting.  Please contact the Program Coordinator if you have completed the application but do not receive an email       

3. Youth applicants must complete their application using their own name and email addressThis will allow parents to register as collaborators. Please read the definitions carefully, as this can be confusing during the application process. 

  • Applicant- is the youth that will be participating. They will request the Collaborators and Recommenders for the application.
  • Collaborator- is a parent/guardian that can review their child's application and sign any forms required. They are able to see all sections of the application. 
  • Recommender- This can be a teacher, guidance counsellor or member of a community council and they will be required to provide a Letter of Support for the participant. The recommender can only access the Letter of Support.
