Métis Early Learning Winter In-Person Family Camp 2026
The Métis Nation of Ontario's Early Learning Child Care Team would like to invite Métis families to our Métis Early Learning Winter In-Person Family Camp that will be held from January 29 – February 1, 2026, at the Canadian Ecology Centre in Mattawa, ON. The Early Learning In-Person Family Camp is designed to provide Métis early learners between the ages of three (3) and twelve (12), their siblings, parents/legal guardians, and grandparent(s) an opportunity to learn more about Métis culture and way of life from an early learning perspective.
At this in-person camp, Métis families will engage in activities connecting them to the land, teach early learners about their Métis culture and way of life, and connect with other Métis families across Ontario. Parents will be able to learn more about the programs and services offered through the Métis Nation of Ontario's Early Learning Child Care program.
Selected families will have their accommodation, meals, and travel covered by the MNO.
Families can bring older siblings and siblings younger than three (3) years of age to the camp. Families will have private accommodations. Each cabin can accommodate 3-6 people (two double beds and one single top bunk or three single bunk beds). Families with infants or toddlers are encouraged to bring a playpen.
To be eligible for this camp, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- One parent/guardian, grandparent(s), or child must be a Métis Nation of Ontario citizen eligible for direct benefits. A consent form signed by the child(ren)’s parent/guardian will be required for grandparents to attend camp with their grandchild(ren). The applicable consent form will be provided upon acceptance to camp.
- Have at least one (1) child or grandchild between 3-12 years old.
- Two (2) adults are required to attend the entire duration of camp and actively participate in camp activities. No more than two (2) adults per family are permitted to attend.
- Interested in learning about Métis history and culture and willing to participate in indoor/outdoor learning.
Space for this camp is limited. Applications will be accepted from October 14 until October 24, 2025, at 8:00 am.
